Obituary for Lawrence Philip "Larry" Hellman

It is with sorrow that we announce Lawrence "Larry" Hellman passed away on Monday after a valiant battle with cancer. He touched many lives with his generous heart, wise insights and sharp wit. Larry was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School and attended City College of New York. He served in the National Guard for six years. Larry worked for U.S. Steel/USS Posco Industries for 52 years, from 1966 to 1992. His last position was Manager of Capital Projects/Environmental Operations. He continued on as a consultant until 2011. Larry is survived by his loving wife Judy; loving daughters Sharyn Corter of Lomita, CA and Stacey Cromie of Concord, CA; devoted brother Charles Hellman of Medford, OR; grandchildren Kellie Corter, Mikey Cromie(Coreen), Nicole Butcher(Morgan), Allison Cromie, Katie Corter and Luke Oliver. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Taylor and Max Cromie, Catalina Marques and Jaycee Smith; and loving friend, Marie Rodrigues. Larry was predeceased by his devoted and loving first wife Alberta "Birdie" Hellman and parents Minnie and Benjamin Hellman. His generous, caring and loving spirit will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Friends and family are invited to a funeral service on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Redwood Chapel at Oakmont Memorial Park, 2099 Reliez Valley Rd. Lafayette, CA.
