Francis X. Basquill, 91, loving husband of the late Lois Baker Basquill, passed away on April 2, 2013 at Avery Heights Health Care, Hartford, CT. following a long and courageous battle with pulmonary disease. Francis was born on December 3, 1921 in Troy, New York to the late Edward P. Basquill and Mary Broderick Basquill. At the age of 3, he moved with his family to West Haven, CT. where he resided and raised his family. He was a veteran of World War II, proudly serving his country in the United States Army. Upon discharge as a Sergeant from the Army, he enrolled in Providence College graduating in 1948 with a BS degree in Accounting. He worked for the New Haven Gas Company as well as serving in the Finance Department for the City of New Haven for many years until his retirement. He was a loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather, a true gentleman. A prolific reader, he also loved puttering around his yard, and his daily walks along the boardwalk of his beloved West Haven. His love of God and his country could only be surpassed by the love he had for his family. He will be sadly missed. He is survived by his four children, daughters Sharon A. (David) Furtak of Wallingford, CT., Patricia A. (Timothy) Pickering of Essex, CT.; sons Edward P. Basquill of Ocala, Florida and Michael F.
