Obituary for Deanna M. (Henry) Essig (Henry)

Deanna May (Henry) Essig, 74, of Maidencreek Township, died August 20, 2013 in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township.
She was the wife of Bernard Joseph Essig, whom she married June 16, 1956.
Born in West Reading, PA on August 23, 1938, she was a daughter of the late John Valentine Henry and Delphine S. (Heffner) Henry.
She was a 1956 graduate of Fleetwood High School and since graduating has enjoyed getting together with high school friends once a month.
Deanna was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lobachsville.
She was employed three years as a typist with CNA, Reading.
Deanna later soldered transistors while employed with Western Electric, Muhlenberg Township.
She was also employed as a secretary for her husband at Bernard J. Essig Construction, Pike Township.
Deanna was a member of the Oley Women's Club and the Blandon Seniors.
She was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed taking day trips and working in her flower garden.
Deanna was a loving wife and mother and totally devoted to her family and friends.
She is also survived by a son, Jeffrey A., husband of Debora K. (Leidy) Essig of Rockland Township and a daughter, Lisa M. (Essig), wife of Michael R. Gursky of Pike Township.
Other survivors include a brother, Ralph C. Henry of Spring Hills Florida and seven grandchildren: Kasey (Rizzetto) Lauro; Kerri (Rizzetto) Crofutt; Kraig Rizzetto; Ashleigh Essig; Ryan Essig; Mikaela Gursky and Alexa Gursky.
There are also two great grandchildren: D. Caleb Michael Essig and Reese May Lauro.
Deanna was predeceased by a brother, Leland Henry.
Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am in St. Pauls's Lutheran Church, 342 Lobachsville Road, Oley, PA 19547. A viewing will be held from 9:00 am – 11:00 am in the Church. Burial will be in Lobachsville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 342 Lobachsville Road, Oley, PA 19547 or to Animal Rescue League, PO Box 69, Mohnton, PA 19540.
