Edison - Kampta Persaud, 78, died on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 in the Arista Care at Cedar Oaks in South Plainfield.

Born and raised in Guyana, Mr. Persaud settled to Edison in 1984.

He was a self taught engineer prior to working as a Service Technician for the MTA in New York City.

A very spiritual man, he was dedicated to the Hindu Religion and was the co-founder of the Hindu Church in South Plainfield.

He is predeceased by a daughter Sushumna Persaud.

Surviving are his loving wife Savitri of Edison, a daughter; Auruna Torres and her husband Raymond of South Plainfield, two sons; Trivedi and his wife Rohini also of South Plainfield and Ved of Edison. Also surviving are two grandchildren; Vasant and Daven Persaud.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 beginning at 8:30am in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.

Cremation Services will follow at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4, 2013 from 2-9pm in the funeral home.
