I am so sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. I first met Ron in Los Angeles in the early eighties; it was nearing the end of Trek America’s summer season and as Ron did not want to go back to a Minnesota winter he was willing to do almost anything. I remember him sitting in the office driveway on Crenshaw Boulevard with needle and thread repairing tents, which by the way he accomplished in a most professional manner! We became close friends and through my years in Trek’s management Ron was always there by my side to help me no matter what task was at hand. Even when the office day was over Ron would check in to offer extra help, whether it was cleaning vans, repairing equipment or making sure that our tour leaders were ready for their next adventure. He was an outstanding employee and put in exceedingly long hours not only to keep the company’s accounts in order but to assure that our general operation was running smoothly. I was usually the first to arrive at the office and I can remember being totally surprised on so many occasions to find Ron still there, having stayed at the office overnight to ensure that our accounts were completed to meet the set deadlines. His dedication to his work was unbelievable and his commitment to our tour leaders was simply beyond belief. He always had a smile, an open ear for all and a story to tell. I will miss him and sorry that we were not in closer touch after I left the company. Ron had become part of our family and to my kids he was always “Uncle Ron” and after we left L.A. we missed his company at our Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations. However, we have the greatest memories of the time we spent together and these will be with us forever.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sheri and her family at this most difficult time.
