Condolences

Condolence From: Greg Van Hee
Condolence: Ronnie lived across from Judy and me when I began teaching in Minneota. His was a smile that could light up any room and a disposition that was always the same, friendly and warm. He was in several of my classes there during the five wonderful years I spent in Minneota. It was Ron and so many other dear kids there that convinced me to stay in teaching rather than go on to law school. Thank you, Ronnie, for being the gentle and genuine spirit that you were ånd say hello to your dear parents from me.

Condolence: Dear Ron's family, please accept my deepest sympathies during this very sad time with the passing of a great lad who not only worked with many of us from the Trek America/Trek Europa days, he was always there for everyone outside of the workplace. Ron and I did a couple of personal trips together and I have great memories of our time in Scotland when we tried to escape the clutches of the hostel warden in a quest to access the other side of the building where the women were waiting for us. Needless to say we spent all night giggling, so not too disappointed. Another adventure with Ron was to Hawaii, we did some fantastic hikes and saw a lot more than most while visiting many of the islands. I managed to catch up with Ron again while he was in convalescence in LA after the incident which thankfully Scott Rohr was able to get help to him just in time. Ron was a very dear friend to me and the same to many others, much like all the crew who work for Trek America, past and present, they look out for each other and that strength gives us all something special. To Ron, you will always be missed mate and your family should be very proud of the friendship and warmth you gave to everyone of us.

One of your traveling friends,
Bob

Condolence: Many memories of training with Uffda in the very early '80's and always seeing him on the road in SD, WA, CA, VA, FL, Alta, AL...and many more. His determination to decipher my accounts over the years was commendable and always kept me entertained. RIP buddy!

Condolence: I first met Ron in New York (Staten Island)as a Trekamerica tour leader. He was someone you can never forget. A great man, a gentleman in every respect.
In the mid 1980's I hired him as a tour leader for TrekEuropa. He led tours all over Europe. He was totally reliable in every respect.

For me he will always be "Ufta". He was a very good friend. Thanks for all the memories.

Condolence: Cheri, I am so sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of running around the neighborhood with Ron (and Rick). Even though there wasn't much contact after leaving Minneota, the memories do last.

Condolence: Ron's passing comes as a surprise and sadness yet past memories are fond and happy with small town warmth. As a classmate Ron remains one of the best for smiles, stories and kindnesses. In elementary school he was one of my favorites. Middle school brings memories of running around town late at night with no real shenanigans just silliness; however, I do believe he ran into a clothesline and took out some teeth, true? I also remember staying at your house one night and you and your mom were so accommodating. We all love Minneota, but I have to agree with Ron on MN winters. He made a life in California and had some adventures with a tour group, I believe. Now he is at peace and, Cheri, you must know he remains in our memories with happy times. He was a great classmate.

Condolence: Hi Cheri and family,

I am so sorry to hear of Ronnie's passing. (He'll always be "Ronnie" to me!) He was my first crush (even though he was a relative!) and my first motorcycle ride (around the block at your house in Minneota. He always made time to hang around with my brother and me when we got to go to your lake cabin, even though we were the little cousins. And seeing you both was one of the highlights of our trips to Grandma and Grandpa's every summer.
To you, Ronnie, until we meet again...

Condolence: So sorry to hear of Ron's passing.
I worked with Ron for many years, and enjoyed his friendship for many more years afterwards. I first met Ron in the mid 80's while we were both on the road as tourleaders for TrekAmerica. Later we worked together in the Los Angeles office, and shared many good times together. He was one of the most dedicated workers I have every met. and was always good for a story!! He really cared about all the people he worked with, and went far beyond the call of duty to ensure everyone was prepared for the road. I'm happy to know he is returning home to his beloved Minnesota.

Condolence: I am so sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. I first met Ron in Los Angeles in the early eighties; it was nearing the end of Trek America’s summer season and as Ron did not want to go back to a Minnesota winter he was willing to do almost anything. I remember him sitting in the office driveway on Crenshaw Boulevard with needle and thread repairing tents, which by the way he accomplished in a most professional manner! We became close friends and through my years in Trek’s management Ron was always there by my side to help me no matter what task was at hand. Even when the office day was over Ron would check in to offer extra help, whether it was cleaning vans, repairing equipment or making sure that our tour leaders were ready for their next adventure. He was an outstanding employee and put in exceedingly long hours not only to keep the company’s accounts in order but to assure that our general operation was running smoothly. I was usually the first to arrive at the office and I can remember being totally surprised on so many occasions to find Ron still there, having stayed at the office overnight to ensure that our accounts were completed to meet the set deadlines. His dedication to his work was unbelievable and his commitment to our tour leaders was simply beyond belief. He always had a smile, an open ear for all and a story to tell. I will miss him and sorry that we were not in closer touch after I left the company. Ron had become part of our family and to my kids he was always “Uncle Ron” and after we left L.A. we missed his company at our Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations. However, we have the greatest memories of the time we spent together and these will be with us forever.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sheri and her family at this most difficult time.
Tony, Penny, Darcie and Alex Church.
