Obituary for Naomi J. Early (Early)

Naomi J. Early (Early)
Naomi J. Early, 88, of Hummelstown, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017, in the Middletown Home.
Born in Hummelstown on August 29, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Miles R. Early, Sr. and Alma E. Yohn Early.
Naomi retired in 1995 as a secretary at the former AMP, Inc., where she was employed for 39 years. She was a 1946 graduate of the former Hummelstown High School, and attended Kutztown University, PennState Harrisburg, and Harrisburg Area Community College. Naomi was a graduate of Thompson Institute and worked as a secretary for the law firm Hul, Leiby & Metzger before beginning her career at AMP, Inc. She was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hummelstown, AMPRA and the Allenberry Club. Naomi enjoyed downhill and cross country skiing and was a charter member of the Harrisburg Ski Club. She enjoyed many skiing trips to New England, Colorado, Canada, Switzerland and Austria. Naomi also had a lifelong passion for art. She was a member of the Harrisburg Art Association and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and loved visiting art museums and shows. In her 70’s, Naomi began painting and enjoyed painting pieces for her home. Naomi’s smile and laugh will be missed by all who knew her. She found delight in life’s simple pleasures: a cool breeze on the front porch, blooming flowers, any sweet treat, a good book, and hugs from loved ones. She loved to spend time with her family and friends, and especially liked dining out and holiday dinners.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Middletown Home for their compassion and care of Naomi.
In addition to her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by her siblings, Josephine M. Smith, Miles R. Early, Jr. and John W. Early.
She is survived by her brother, Robert C. Early; brother in law, Quentin R. Smith; sisters in law, Evelyn Early and Nancy Early; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; her neighbors, the Moyer’s; and caregiver, Kris.
Funeral service will be held Monday, April 10, 2017, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Interment will be in Hummelstown Cemetery. Friends will be received for the viewing on Monday from 10 AM until time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to have memorial contributions made to the Dauphin County Library System, Community Relations Department, 101 Walnut Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101; please write “Alexander Family Library” in the memo line.
