Tamra

It's about finding one that linstes and treats you with respect. Especially those of us that have been around for a while and we really know our dogs well. Two examples with my current vet, who I plan to stay with at this point. (It took me 4 years after moving to the area to find him.) First, I had a dog that simply wasn't quite right and though she presented as perfectly normal at the clinic, I knew she was off. I said I wanted him to run a tick disease panel, which I could tell he thought was unnecessary, but he did it, and sure enough positive for RMSTF. Second time I had a girl that wasn't quite right, I wanted him to check her spleen. I could tell he thought I was nuts, but he did the exploratory to find something he'd never seen before, as her spleen was indeed torsed 5 or 6 times. Pretty nice that now when I walk in, he will ask me what I think is wrong, and he absolutely respects my opinion.
