Dean was born to Henry and Paula Oliver on June 2, 1959 at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. His family returned home to Perkins, where he was raised on their family land. He graduated from Perkins-Tryon High School in 1977 and enjoyed playing varsity football for the Demons and playing trumpet in the band.

After graduation, he worked many jobs including as a painter, carpenter and in the oil fields. However, in 1983, he began working at Oberlin Color Press (later renamed Quebecor World) where he quickly worked his way up to head pressman. He retired in 2003.

In 1983, he married Carrie Jane Robinson and they had two children, Jennifer and Henry “Tiger” Oliver. They later divorced. In 1996, he met the love of his life, Janice Walter, and they spent 15 wonderful years of love and friendship until her death in 2013.

Dean had many nicknames, but to most of his friends and family he was known as Dean-O or Dean-O-Casino. He loved to fish, BBQ, go two-stepping, tell stories, spend time with his family, and play the slot machines from time to time. He also enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, OSU football, and the Saints.
He is survived by many loving children and friends: Tiger Oliver, Jennifer Oliver and Mark Newman, Heather and Mike Rine, Bob and Angie Walter, and Lashell Williams. He was a proud grandpa to Brayden and Katie, Alexyss “Sweet Pea”, Charley “Cupcake”, Maggie, Morgan “Sweet Cheeks”, Brendan, Rayn, and Lilly. He loved is “Mother-in-Love” Helen Murrell; brother, James Oliver; nieces, Ashley, Shelby, Lindsey, and Lindsay Sha; nephews, Jeremy, Chris, Seth, Ethan, Joshua, and Este. And many more people in his life that he claimed as family, including his dog, Lady!

Dean will be known as a story teller and for being ornery, a little stubborn, a very proud father and grandfather, and a very warm-hearted, kind man.
