Obituary for Joseph Harvey Durkee


Joseph Harvey Durkee, Jr., age 80, passed away on Tuesday July 14, 2015 in Lebanon, VA. We are thrilled that he is in heaven with his Lord and Savior. Mr. Durkee was born in Jacksonville, FL in 1934, the son of the late Joseph H. Durkee and Kathryn S. Durkee. Joe owned and operated for over 35 years Map Service a retail map store serving Jacksonville and the surrounding areas providing paper maps and aerial photographs for customers needing information. Mr. Durkee is survived by his brother Ken Durkee and sister in-law Paula; his niece Kathryn Kovarik; nephew Jay Durkee, as well as numerous cousins. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday July 21, 2015, at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Veterans Emergency Fund in care of SWCC Educational Foundation, P.O. Box SVCC Richlands, VA 24641. Owens Funeral Service, owensfuneralservice.com, Lebanon, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
