Obituary for Wanda Lou Johnston

Wanda Lou  Johnston
Wanda Lou Johnston, 85, passed from this world on Tuesday, August 25 in Stillwater. Her graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2015 at Fairland Cemetery in Fairland, Oklahoma. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born December 27, 1929 to Virgil Lyle Roulet and Lois Burnis (Merical) Roulet at Custer City, Oklahoma. She attended grade school and high school at Independence, Oklahoma and graduated from Putnam, Oklahoma. Wanda graduated from Oklahoma A & M with a BA in Home Economics Education.

Wanda married Robert Neil Johnston August 26, 1950 in the First United Methodist Church in Stillwater.

She taught at the Opportunity Center in Ponca City for many years. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma where she served as President of the United Methodist Women for several years. She was an accomplished artist, painting oils and water colors, paying attention to the smallest detail. She also enjoyed at every opportunity to spend time with family always attending grandchildren activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dois Karen Nightingale; and also her husband, Robert, with whom she will celebrate their 65th anniversary in heaven August 26, 2015.

She is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Dianne Dickerson of Stillwater, Oklahoma; three granddaughters, Melissa Moore and Sam of Perkins, Oklahoma, Amy Grote and Chad of Denver, Colorado, and Sarah London and Bret of Perkins, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Cody Oliver and Jennifer of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Caleb Oliver of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Stetson and Sterling London of Perkins, Oklahoma; great great grandchildren Ellie and Easton Oliver of Stillwater, Oklahoma; two sisters, Paddy Jo Andrews of Austin, Texas, Norada Kay Vincent, Fairland, Oklahoma; several cousins, nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
