Obituary for Dean R. Kerlin

Dean R. Kerlin, 89, of Hummelstown, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016, in Country Meadows, Hershey, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Shade Gap on May 8, 1926, he was the son of the late McClellan and Blanche Robinson Kerlin.
Dean was a barber and house parent for the Milton Hershey School; and also worked for the Hummelstown Cemetery. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church, Hummelstown. He served in the Navy during World War II on the USS Shangri-la. Dean enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, and going to the casino; he was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan. Dean loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his loving wife, Billee Rae Delaney Kerlin, on May 16, 2001; two brothers, Dale Kerlin and Daryl Kerlin; and a sister, Darlene Yaple.
Dean is survived by two sons, Rodney D. Kerlin husband of Cecilia, and Robert D. Kerlin husband of Sue; three daughters, The Rev. Lisa Kerlin Klinger wife of Robert, Linda Kerlin Jackson wife of Douglas, and Cindy Kerlin Stuart widow of Jay; two sisters, Cheerful Kidd and Dorothy Rutter; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; his friend at Country Meadows, Betty Kieffer; and his faithful cat, Andy.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 12 Noon in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with Chaplain Casey Hurst of Grane Hospice, officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday from 11 AM until time of the services. A private inurnment will be held in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg, at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be given in memory of Dean to Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 West Main Street, Hummelstown, PA 17036, or to Grane Hospice, 4 Lemoyne Drive, Suite 201, Lemoyne, PA 17043.
