Obituary for Dorothy Clare Blackmar

Dorothy Clare Blackmar
Dorothy C. Blackmar, nee Gostkowski, 88 of Ocean City, NJ, formerly of Mays Landing, died Thursday January 11, 2018. She was a resident of The Shores of Wesley Manor. Mrs. Blackmar was born in Bloomfield, but spent most of her life in New York. She grew up in Masbeth, Queens, and graduated from Bishop McDonnell H.S. in 1948. She and her husband Ken raised their family on Long Island, then spent many years in Queensbury, upstate NY, before moving to South Jersey. She worked in Jericho Library for many years, and was influential in her family's life-long love of reading and learning.

Predeceased by her husband Kenneth and Son Robert Blackmar, devoted mother of Kathleen Farley (Bill), John Blackmar (Deborah), Mary Frances Mellon (Fred), and Christopher (Penny), Grandmother to Brian, Jennifer, John, Timothy, Matthew, Christopher, Kierra, Paul, Gregory, and Patricia. Great-Grandmother of 10.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, January 15, 11am. Viewing will be held before the mass at 10am, St Augustine Church, St Damien Parish, 13th St. & Wesley Ave., Ocean City, NJ
Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing
