Patricia Ann (Benson) Cauwels was born on March 1, 1937, in Minneota, to Harold and Agnes (Culshaw) Benson. She grew up in Minneota and graduated from Minneota High School. On May 18, 1957, she was united in marriage to Vincent Cauwels. The couple farmed and raised their family near Marshall. Pat was an animal lover. She enjoyed participating in horse shows and watching her children show their horses. She also enjoyed going to horse expos in the cities. Pat had a keen sense of style. She enjoyed her family: her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pat died on Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. She is survived by her husband Vincent of Marshall, daughter Debra (and Kenny) Carson of Winnebago, MN , daughter Connie (and David) Kerkaert of Watkins, MN, son Bradley Cauwels of Ruthton, MN, son Jeffrey Cauwels of Ruthton, MN, daughter Sharon (and David) Dillon of Seaforth, MN, daughter Barbara Baack (and Dan Olson) of Green Isle, MN, daughter Janet (and William) Flood of Porter, 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents , sister Marian Fry and grandson Dustin Coudron.
