He was a 1949 graduate of John Harris High School, Harrisburg, where he met his high school sweetheart and future wife, Pearl. To this day, he was still John Harris and Pioneer proud. Jere was also a member of the Hummelstown Optimist Club; he was a giver to his community, family and friends. He had a passion for life and enjoyed many hobbies from boats to cars to small airplanes, and to Jere golf was the best sport of all. He was a bright man who enjoyed being hands-on in all aspects of life, loved politics and patriotism. Jere was a gift giver at heart; he would often do special things that sometimes went unrecognized, but he truly loved and appreciated his family and friends.
