Obituary for Blaine K. Rogers

Blaine K.  Rogers
Blaine K. Rogers, 69, of Hershey, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016, at his home.

Born in Lock Haven on February 10, 1947, he was the son of the late Ernest, Jr., and Mae Probst Rogers, Jr.
Blaine retired from the Township of Derry in 1996 with a ranking of Corporal with the Police Department. While at Derry he loved to work the Antique Auto traffic events. Blaine was a long-time firearms instructor through the NRA. Prior to working for the Township of Derry, Blaine served with the Hummelstown Police Department.

He was a 1965 graduate of Lock Haven High School, where he lettered in football for two years. Blaine was also a graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 78 since 1969. In addition, Blaine was a member of the Middletown Anglers’ & Hunters’ Club, Hummelstown Field & Stream Association, and the Dela-ches Fishing Association, Palmyra. He liked sports, and hunting especially long range hunting. An active fisherman, Blaine loved to “whoop” his best friend Dan Kelly in numerous fishing trips.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 47 years, Virginia “Ginny” L. Keller Rogers, whom he married on May 10, 1968; one daughter, Jamie R. Ecker wife of Michael P, Jr. of Hershey; two granddaughters, Katarina C. Ecker and Kirsten K. Ecker both of Hershey; one sister, Darlene Rothrock wife of Frank of Lock Haven; one nephew, Tim Rothrock; two nieces, Debbie Bressler and Laureen Herman; and numerous great-nieces and –nephews.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2016, from 6 to 8 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. A private inurnment will be held in the Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
