Memories

Sharon and I met about 37 years ago when we lived on the same street in Ajax.   Our children are the same age and we became good friends, supporting each other, having tea in the afternoon while the kids played, and just doing what friends did.   Our families had trailers at Camp Klahanie and we spent many a summer's day at the beach watching the kids build sand castles and learn to swim in the lake.   Each year our kids sat on the steps of the trailer for a picture and Sharon jokingly called them the "stepkids".    We all grew up together.  We shared so many memories throughout the years.   In later years we moved away from each other and life went on.   However, we always kept in touch with phone calls, email, and the odd visit.   When Sharon became ill, I was heartbroken and throughout her journey I marveled at her strength and resolve.   She didn't give up despite all the set-backs.   During those years, she was lucky enough to have her boys married and settled and to meet her wonderful grandkids which meant the world to her.   I'm so privileged to have known Sharon and although I'm glad she's out of pain and suffering, my world is a little sadder today.   Brian and Kevin, hold your memories close and remember always that your mom was a rockstar.
