Jose Ricardo "Richard"  Ortega
Jose Ricardo “Richard” Ortega, 85, of Cheyenne died July 6, 2016 at the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital.

He was born March 28, 1931 in Sheridan, NM to Rodolfo and Manuela Ortega. He retired from the Railroad as a materials handler. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Eagles Lodge, Moose Lodge, American Legion Post #6, VFW #4343 and the GI Forum. In the Army, he was the first rifleman in his battalion.

He is survived by his wife, Tina Ortega of Cheyenne, daughter Pat (David) Hernandez of Cheyenne; siblings Raymond Ortega of Roswell, NM and Nash Ortega of Cheyenne; 3 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Ricky Ortega and Darla Lucero; siblings, Tacho Ortega, Tarzan Ortega, Rose Ortiz and Oralia Tafoya.

Those who wish may contribute to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Visitation will be Monday noon followed by Vigil for the Deceased at 7:00 p.m. in the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. Funeral Liturgy will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will be in Olivet Cemetery followed by a reception in the Schrader Reception Center.
