Doris Frances Dahlquist Dwyer, 86, born on October 10, 1929 in Montrose, NY; and formerly of Peekskill, Cold Spring, Hopewell Jct., Cape May Point, NJ., and Winter Park, FL; she passed away on peacefully on September 3, 2016 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. She was the loving wife of the late John P. Dwyer Sr., and mother of the late John Dwyer Jr.. Doris is survived by her son, Scott Dwyer and daughter, Jennifer Buchanan; her five grandchildren: Douglas, David and Doreen Dwyer, Cristian Penafiel and Grayson Colvin; and a great-grandchild Liam Shwickert. Doris worked as a buyer for the Pixie Shop in Peekskill in her early years, and later owned several delicatessens, located in Hopewell Jct., NY and Cape May Point, NJ. She worked tireless hours, and loved every minute of it… and greatly appreciated her extended customer family. Doris fully enjoyed her life and every smile returned to her. She was a caring and compassionate community member. She will be dearly missed by anyone who crossed her path and especially by her family and friends. A warmhearted woman without pretense, but with sincere purpose. A wake was held in Winter Park, FL on September 7, 2016. A Funeral Service will be held 11am, Saturday, September 10th at the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 137 N. Division St., Peekskill, followed by interment in the Hillside Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor.
