Obituary for John Andrew Roganish
John Andrew Roganish, “Jack” 74, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at the Carolyn’s Hospice House, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer for more than 2 years.
Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, son to Doris Jean (Fox) Roganish and the late Nicholas Thomas Roganish.
Jack earned the rank of Sgt. In the PA Army National Guard and pursued a career in the construction field, where he worked for NewGround in St. Louis, Missouri, for 38 years, serving in the positions of Area Construction Manager and Senior Project Manager at the time of retirement.
He was a devoted Christian and loving husband, father, friend and mentor to many. He served as Governor of the Marysville Moose and was the first in over 20 years to be presented with the Governor’s Golden Degree Merit Award. He was also Assistant Scout Master, Leadership Chairman and Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #857 of the Boone Trails District, St. Peters, MO. He was privileged enough to confirm 12 Eagle Scouts and passionate about the volunteer work he did with the Boy Scouts, also serving as Camp master for Webelos & Boone Trails Camporees. More recently, he enjoyed making unique pens for people.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Barbara Jane (Barner) Roganish, two children, Vicky Jo Roganish and Nicholas Richard Roganish, mother, Doris Roganish and sister, Linda Craver. Last, but certainly not least, he was the “best Pappy ever” to Jonathan E. Weiser of Alexander, ND, and Jillian E. Weiser of Enola, PA.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at 11 AM in Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, 165 North 67th Street, Harrisburg, with The Rev. Dr. Keith A. Blank, his pastor, officiating. Inurnment with military honors will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg. A visitation will be held on Tuesday in the church from 10 AM until time of the service.
