My first memories of "Uncle John" were in McAlester,OK in the 1960's, where his parents (my grandparents lived). We (his sister Virginia's family) would always go visit "the grandparents at Christmas and other times. John and Vivian would always make it a point to go there and visit and meet with us. John's parents (my grandparents) later moved and retired in the Lake Texoma area and the tradition contionued for many years. One couldn't ask for a better uncle and aunt and John and wife Vivian were to us (we were 4 children). They brought us Christmas presents as kids and were very family oriented. I traveled from Houston,Tx to visit my Uncle John and Aunt Vivian in the winter of 2013 and that was the last time I saw them. Vivian died shortly after my visit to Stillwater,Ok and now John in gone. Virginia (John's sister and my mother) still survives and lives in Houston, Texas.
