Life Story for Karen Adele Hughes

Karen Adele Chapman Hughes was born on August 24, 1946 in Cincinatti, Hamilton County, Ohio to Dorcas Louise Chapman and Samuel Hughes, Sr. who both preceded her in death. She was first born of 7 children. She relocated to Los Angeles, CA where she became loving mother of 6 children.

Karen was a caring, loving and family-oriented woman. She accepted Christ in her life at an early age. She enjoyed a simple lifestyle such as reading, walking and caring for her grandchildren. Karen was a woman with a heart of gold. She spent her golden years in the city of Tacoma, WA where she was laid to rest.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Her children Vera Hughes Copeland, (Barry) of Walters, OK, Herman Lewis, Yolanda Lewis of Los Angeles, CA, Elroy Johnson Sr., (Page) of Long Beach, CA, Lilitie Johnson, Keya Johnson of Los Angeles, CA and one godson Robert E. Jefferson of Arizona. She was a proud grandmother of 21 grandchildren: Eslanda, Preston Jr., Christopher, Ebony (Ryan), Herman, Marshon, Norman Jr., Marsonita, Lance, Emerald, Deshawn, Elroy, Jr., Kahlyl, Kamal, Anthony (Monisha), Takeima, Karen, Paul, Adrian and Keith, and 18 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, SamElla Hughes of WA, Penelope Hughes-Hollis of CA; 4 brothers, Quinton Allen (Saint) of CO, James Hackney (Tony) of AZ, Samuel Hughes Jr. preceded her in death, Nicolas Hughes (Nick) of WA; and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends that will truly miss her.
