Obituary for Arlene F. ""Sue"" Barhite


Sue Barhite (Arlene Tillotson Barhite), 70, of Cortland, NY passed away at her home surrounded by family January 26, 2017 after a long illness.

Born February 4, 1946 in Elmira, NY, Sue was a daughter of the late Morrell and Helen Myslivecek Tillotson and was a Groton resident for 45 years and then spent the past few years in Cortland, NY. She was an active member of the Groton Community Church and she worked at the Groton Elementary School for 20 years. Sue enjoyed staying home to raise her family (in her earlier years), as well as socializing with friends and family, taking care of her gardens, mowing the lawn and traveling by car, bus and boat when opportunities arose.

Sue is survived by her loving husband, friend and confidant of 51 years, Edward Barhite Jr; her son Edward Barhite III (Shelly); her daughter Lisa Barhite (Polly); her daughter Kim Barhite (Jan); seven grandchildren: Mathew, Katelyn, Nick, Erica, Rachel, Shea and Edward IV; Brother Gerry Tillotson(Doris); Sister Karen Tillotson and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Jack Tillotson.

Services will be Saturday February 4th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Zirbel Funeral Home , 115 Williams St, Groton. The family will receive friends 10-11am prior to the services. There will be a reception at the Groton Community Church following the services.
