Condolence From: Saleh Ayyub
Condolence: I would like to add that during John's hiding I looked after John, and provided him and others Americans and British citizens with required food, medicine, support, which I have paid for from my own pocket,. I have put my life and my family' at risk to provide support for John and other neighbors in hiding, and before John was taken as a hostage. In that effect John has wrote me a letter of support and and appeal to the USA authorities. Should the family members be interested in a copy f the mentioned letter for their own records, I will be happy to Email them. My Email is: sayyub@xtra.co.nz

Condolence: May Allah "God" bless your soul. John was my neighbor in Kuwait at the time of the Iraq Invasion (Desert Storm) in 1990 and became a Civilian Hostage. He had wrote me and my family (my dear wife and children) a great letter of support, asking and appealing for the USA government to help save me get out of Kuwait and join other family members in USA, but unfortunately I was left behind to face Kuwaiti hatred and persecution. May God bless American and all honest people, rest in peace my friend/neighbor John - We will miss you as great man with a wonderful and kind heart! :)

Condolence: I am so sorry to hear of the loss of John. I cared for his mother many years ago and since coming to work at OSU have seen him on different occasions. He was always so nice and such a gentleman. My prayers for the family.

Condolence: My condolences to the Ritter Family. I always enjoyed visiting with John at Landscape Architecture events. He was a kind spirit. He was wonderful with the OSU students and very generous in his time and commitments. His legacy will live on at OSU.

Condolence: The Ballinger family has so many wonderful memories of John and the Ritter family. John always showed up for family events and was so encouraging to all of us. One of his famous statements was, "It's as good as it will ever be." He had such a sweet spirit and we all shall miss him. May the good Lord cover you with peace and the comfort of His love. We love you. Norm and Joyce McCollum

Condolence: Words can't express my sadness over your loss of John. I will certainly miss his visits and hugs. I am so glad he made the decision to take the China trip. Working together we got everything registered on-line, but it was no easy task! I know he thoroughly enjoyed the experience. My thoughts are with you, his family during this time.

Condolence: I met John in Egypt in 1976. He seemed to be lost in downtown Cairo and my cousin and I happily showed him around. I brought him home to meet my family and we have been great friends ever since. But mostly John has been a father figure to me. I lost my birth father in 1988 and today I feel as if I lost my father all over again. My family and I will miss him dearly.
