Obituary for Robert V. Schoorens

Robert Victor Schoorens, 86

Ayer - Robert Victor Schoorens, 86, formerly of Bedford, MA, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017 with his loving wife of 61 years by his side.

Born in Waltham, MA, he was the son of the late Victor A. Schoorens and Lillian Carruthers Schoorens of Waltham, MA.

Robert served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as a Staff Seargent. It was through his service that he discovered his love of flying, which he did throughout his life. Robert was also a Captain and drummer in the Bedford Minutemen. A formerly employee of the Commonwealth of MA, he and his brother also owned a service station in Belmont.

Robert is survived by his wife Constance Colby Schoorens of Ayer, MA; His son, Michael Schoorens and his wife Cindy Ryder Schoorens of Pepperell, MA; His daughters, Leanne Whalen and husband Christopher Whalen of New Castle, NH; and Julie Mizzoni and husband Joseph Mizzoni of Boston, MA; He is preceded in death by his son Robert Schoorens. He is also survived by his twin brother Richard Schoorens of Biddeford, ME.

Robert "Papa" also leaves behind his eleven cherished grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 6th at St. Benedict Abbey Chapel, 252 Still River Road (Rt 110) in Harvard, MA. A private burial will be held at a later date.
