Obituary for John Floyd Pullin

John Floyd Pullin, 88, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 8, 2017 in Houston. Visitation is twelve o’clock until one o’clock in the afternoon, Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service follows at one o’clock. Interment is at the Woodlawn Garden of Memories Cemetery.
John is preceded in death by his parents, William Durley and Nettie, and a twin brother, Jesse Lloyd and older brother William Duras Pullin. He leaves behind his brother, Walter Pullin and wife Alice. In addition, he leaves behind many treasured friends including those of whom he shared many nights of dancing, Irene Urbanoski and her family, plus the family of the late Shirley Anderson. Also left behind to treasure his memories are many nieces and nephews.

Known as a quiet and kind man, John dearly loved the many friends he met during his weekly dance nights. He was a member of dance clubs in the Houston area and was known for his skills in dancing. John also had a green thumb and will be remembered for all of his gardens and the vegetables he shared with everyone. He was born in 1929 and raised on a farm with his brothers in Kilbourne, Louisiana-and even plowed the fields with mules back in the day. John was a loving son who was very dependable while caring for his beloved mother, Nettie during her final four years of life. A fine gentleman, John will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

Pallbearers for the service are: Randy and Lee Pullin; Hugh and Matt Thompson, Jerry West and Anthony Urbanoski. Reverend Larry Bertrand, Pastor of Tallowood Baptist Church, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The American Cancer Society.
