Funeral services for Robert J. Thompson, 68, of Muskogee, OK, will be held at 12 noon, Monday, February 13, 2017 at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Crow officiating. Pallbearers will be Jessie Escamilla, Ronnie Wayne McCutcheon, Randy Lee Crowder, Gary Lively, Jordan Diebold, and Dakota Ballard. Honorary pallbearers will be Francis Harjo, Arch Lucas, and Carol King. Burial will be in Fort Gibson National Cemetery.

Robert was born July 14, 1948 at Muskogee, OK, the son of Carl M. and Virginia (Tedder) Thompson and died Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Muskogee. On March 19, 1974 he married Billie R. Burris in Muskogee, OK. Robert was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement, he worked as a service officer for the Veterans Administration Hospital for over 29 years. He loved his job and working with veterans. Robert coached baseball for his sons for eight years. Family was very important to him. He loved his kids and grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Thompson of the home; sons, Douglas Diebold and wife, Melody, Jeffrey Diebold and wife, Winsdy, all of Fort Gibson; granddaughters, Taylor Diebold and Lauren Diebold both of Fort Gibson; grandson, Jordan Diebold of Fort Gibson; brothers, Carl Thompson and wife, Delois, of Baton Rouge, LA, Jerry Thompson of Wittmann, AZ; uncle Jimmy Tedder of Porter, OK; many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
