Condolence From: John Webb
Condolence: It's so hard to believe that Mickey is no longer with us. The Class of 1964 of Cherry Valley Central School was small but connected. We started kindergarten together and graduated together, so we were classmates, playmates and friends . . . indelible parts of each other's daily lives for a very long time. Needless to say, one could only have the fondest memories of Mickey, a good guy with a wry sense of humor and overall kindness. It's sad indeed to see a member of that small school class leave us, but he leaves behind splendid memories. My condolences and warmest wishes for strength and solace to everyone in his family at this difficult time. John Webb

Condolence: I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Shipway was such a wonderful and kind man. Even though everyone called him Mickey, I could never bring myself to call him anything than Mr. Shipway. I had so much respect for him. I will miss talking with him at the Y everyday, he was such a great person.

Condolence: I was lucky enough to have had Mr. Shipway for Algebra 2/Trig and then for Calculus back in the mid-70's. While I truly enjoyed his classes, I would have never dreamed that he would have such a profound impact on my life. I began teaching math in 1981 and I am still teaching today and I patterned much of my teaching style after his. I even found a copy of our trig book at a yard sale once and I pull it out several times a year and tell my students how Mr. Shipway used to teach us logarithms or how to calculate trig functions all without a calculator. My condolences to his family and I can only thank God that he was my math teacher.

Condolence: During my years as Supt, at BHBL, I had the OPPORTUNITY to work with Mickey. He was so competent in everything he undertook. But,most of all, he was fun! He would look at you with a straight face and say outlandish things, then pause after your reaction, and break into a BIG smile an then laughter. My first week at BHBL I entered the Admin. bldg. on a blustery, freezing day with only my sport coat for warmth. Standing there was this guy I had never met. I said, "Jeez is it cold!" And that guy said, "It's winter! Put your coat on!" That was my intro to Mickey. After that, he made me laugh each time I saw him. A great guy and a fine educator! BH-BL was lucky to have him. I was lucky to know him and work with him. Thanks, Mickey. BH
