Clifford Eugene Studebaker


Clifford Eugene Studebaker, a resident of Hillsboro, Oregon, died on February 7, 2017 in Hillsboro. He was 92 years of age.


Cliff was born on May 31, 1924 in Havana, Arkansas and was the son of George and Ethel (Rogers) Studebaker. He grew-up in Washington County and attended Banks High School.


In 1943, Cliff enlisted into the United States Army. He served with 717th Tank Battalion in Rhineland and Central Europe during the war. He was awarded his European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, the American Theatre Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. He received an honorable discharge in 1945 at the rank of Sergeant.


After the war, Cliff returned to Oregon where he worked as a logger in Tillamook later relocating to California. In the 1970’s he moved to Roseburg and in the 1980’s to Hillsboro where he retired from the logging industry.


Cliff was an avid woodworker. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading Western Novels and watching old Western TV Shows. He also enjoyed attending the 717th Tank Battalion’s annual reunions throughout the years.


He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sayoko, sons, Rick and Edward, daughter, Beverly, stepsons, Glenn, Robert and John and step daughter, Carla, his brother, Richard and his sister, Pansy along with 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, David along with 2 sisters and 1 brother.


His 1st Wife (mother of his kids Rick, Ed, and Beverly). Her name was Verdie Studebaker (Hughes) She preceded him in death.

A visitation will be on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm at Donelson Funeral Chapel. A celebration of Cliff’s life will be on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 1:00 pm also at Donelson Funeral Chapel. Private Interment will be at Fir Lawn Memorial Park. Contributions may be made in memory of Cliff to Lebanon Veteran’s Home. Donelson Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
