Obituary for Ellis W Shelton

Mr. Ellis W. Shelton of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Elvis Walter Shelton and Hallie Estes Shelton Beams, was born on July 1, 1936 in Green County, Kentucky and departed this life on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital. He was 80 years, 7 months, and 11 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ. He was retired maintenance for Campbellsville College and Taylor Regional Hospital. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Army as a Drill Sargeant. He was a member of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #54 F&AM, V.F.W. James L. Pruitt Post #5813, past volunteer Fireman for the Greensburg/Green County Fire Department, Rescue Squad member and Ambulance Driver, and past part-time employee for Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home.

Mr. Shelton united in marriage to Martha F. Allen Shelton on October 21, 1961 who preceded him in death on November 2, 2012.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Alicia and David Taylor, Allison and Tom Griffiths all of Greensburg; four grandchildren: Alex Taylor and his wife, Kaitlyn, Elliott Taylor, Abbey Griffiths, and Hallie Griffiths all of Greensburg; a great-grandson: Deacon Taylor of Greensburg; a brother: Adren Shelton of Alvaton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Kenneth and Barbara Harris of Greensburg, Veron Allen and Jen Rose, Bobby and Gloria Cave, Davetta Buckner, John and Carolyn Gaines, Richard and Evelyn Jetter, David and Glenda Shreve, Keith and Donna Allen all of Campbellsville, Robert and Joyce Dowell, Ron and Sharon Gregory all of Louisville, Otha and Susan Allen of Lebanon, and Martha Lou Shelton of Greensburg.

Mr. Shelton was also preceded in death by a granddaughter: Emma A. Griffiths; two brothers: Eugene Shelton and Eyonne Beams.

The funeral services for Mr. Ellis W. Shelton will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens with full military honors conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. Bro. Carlos Compton officiating.

Visitation is requested from 3 P.M. until 8 P.M., Tuesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7 A.M., Wednesday until time of the funeral service.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Bloyd-Perkins Cemetery, which can be made at the funeral home.
