Jane Makris (Ziza)
Jane Ziza Makris age 95 of Stratford, loving wife of 56 years to the late Gussie Makris passed away peacefully on Saturday February 25, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen Popka Ziza. She was employed by the DM Reads Company in the accounting department. Jane was an avid bingo player, wonderful dancer, loved to work in her garden and enjoyed all the Senior Citizen trips with Holy Trinity.
Survivors include her devoted daughter Carol and her husband Thomas Thurkette of Stratford, sister-in-law’s Anna Ziza, Katherine Lenihan and Loretta Makres all of Stratford, several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the staff at Lord Chamberlain Rehabilitation Center for their care and compassion for Jane especially 3rd floor nurses and care givers.
Friends are invited to attend The Rite of Burial on Tuesday February 28, 2017 at 10am in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Park Ave, Bridgeport with Fr. Georgios Livaditis Presbyter officiating followed by Private interment in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. In abiding with her wishes calling hours have been omitted. The Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport has been entrusted with the services. Donations can be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church or the American Heart Association in memory of Jane.
