Lourigan; children, Margie Blair, George Lourigan, Kathy Fairfax, Pat Lourigan, Mary Mueller, Ken Halton, Chris Widlund and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Joan Lyman. She is preceded in death by her parents George & Rose Boerner; siblings George (Bud) Boerner, Gilbert (Gib) Boerner, Richard (Dick) Boerner, Robert (Bobby) Boerner.
Irene was born on August 16, 1933 in Kenosha, WI. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1955 with a degree in Home Economics. She married her high school sweetheart George in 1955 at St. Mark Catholic Church in Kenosha, WI in a stunning dress she designed and made herself. They moved to Raleigh, NC where she started her family. Over the next 17 years she had 6 children. When most of those had moved out she adopted another child. After that, because of her love for all, she welcomed with open arms many adults and children who were in need of a loving home. Her lifelong passion was to be Mom and Grammy.
Grammy was a generous, dedicated individual who loved all and who was passionate about bringing God’s love and the Eucharist to everyone. She did this by taking Communion to those in nursing homes and homebound, as well as actively working with the youth. Grammy was a passionate, accomplished artist, sculpture, knitter, and seamstress. Grammy opened her home to every living creature (domestic or wild) that needed her loving care. Her life has always been and is centered around her Catholic faith. Most recently she was a devout member of the St. Anne Catholic Church in Rock Hill, SC. Prior to moving to Rock Hill she was an active member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Greer, SC and St. Mary Catholic Church in Greenville, SC.
A Rosary is scheduled for 7 pm on Sunday, 3/5/2017, at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home in Rock Hill, SC. All are welcome.
