John Edwin Winters, 75, of Shippensburg, Passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the Shippensburg Health Care Center.

Born Monday, September 1, 1941 in Cogan Station, PA., he was a son of the late Russell A. and Grace Briggs Winters.

John was of the Lutheran Faith. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. John worked as a custodian at St. James Catholic School and later retired in 2004 from the Mercersburg Academy where he worked as a custodian. He loved to hunt and fish.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie Lee Ringler Winters, two daughters, Terri Lynn (husband John) Alexander of Shippensburg and Barbara Ann (husband Wayne) Tomlinson of Chambersburg, one step daughter, Melody Lee Cleveland of Trout Run, five grandsons, two great grandsons and one great granddaughter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Robert William Cleveland.

Funeral services and burial will be private.
