Madeline Bowman

Madeline Bowman, 97, of Granite City, IL., born January 21, 1920, in Brooklyn, NY, passed away at Anderson Hospital on Friday, March 17, 2017.

She loved reading on her Kindle, tatting, sewing and knitting. She was an avid ping pong player and former champ of Long Island, NY. Senior Olympics. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Bowman; her parents, Fredrick and Mary, nee McNally, Ludwig.

Surviving are her two children, Paul (Ella) Bowman of Moriches, NY., Marie (Michael) McClery of Granite City, IL.; four grandchildren, Theresa (Bill) Darling of Cox’s Creek, KY., Michael (Jennifer) McClery of Morton, IL., Christopher (Jamie) Bowman of Commack, NY. and Brian Bowman of New York, NY.; five great grandchildren, Anna Darling, Adam Darling, Andrew Kazuyo Darling, Brendan McClery and Alexandra McClery.

She will be missed and in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Scleroderma Foundation, 1722 Heather Dale Dr., St. Louis, MO., 63146, or Alzheimer’s Association, 9370 Olive Blvd, St. Louis, MO., 63132, and can be received at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, IL. Condolences to the family can be expressed through this online guestbook.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services for Madeline will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, IL. Burial will be at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY.
