Passed away at the Glenboro Health Centre on Sunday March 26, 2017 at the age of 94 years, Frederick William Jackson, of Glenboro MB.

Fred leaves to mourn his passing his children Linda Snider & Fred Jackson Jr, both of Glenboro, Joan (Armand) Baete of Beaumont, AB, five grandchildren Jeffrey (Martha) Jackson, Dean Jackson, Trevor (Sarah) Baete, Tanya (Darrel) Dompe & Tyler (Lindsey) Baete, five great grandchildren Jayla, Jordan, Hudson, Asher & Ali as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. Fred was predeceased by his parents Gordon & Edna Jackson, brothers Harold (Eileen), Carl & Lorne and by sisters Jean (Norman) King & Muriel (Jim) Palmer.

Frederick William Jackson was born November 25, 1922 in Glenboro, Manitoba. He was the third child born to Gordon and Edna Jackson. He took schooling in the Glenboro area, but school was not his strong suit.

In 1941 Fred joined the Canadian Air force. He worked as a grounds man on the aircraft in WW2 in Ontario. Shortly after he joined, he became ill with Rheumatic fever and spent over a year in the hospital. After regaining his health he left the RCAF and moved to Flin Flon to work in the mines. In February of 1952 Marie's sister was pregnant and passed away due to complications. It was at this point that Linda came into their life as Fred and Marie raised her as their own and that was the beginning of the Fred Jackson family.
In December 1953 the second child was born in the family, a boy Fred Jr. who was followed by their last family member in May 1955, a girl named Joan.

After leaving the family farm he also took up curling and golfing. But his keen interest for gambling was still alive and well resulting in many trips to the U.S. with Marie, jack, & Wilma Gowanlock, and Lloyd & Jean Einarson. I guess it would be safe to say that aside from his family, gambling was his main passion and something he enjoyed until the very last. Playing crib was also very large part of his life. He would play anyone who would like to try and beat him. Fred especially liked it if money was involved. Fred was a very proud man and lived on his own until May 2016, when he moved in with his son Freddy. Fred was at the end of another generation, and lived a very full life.

A Celebration of Fred's life will be held on Saturday April 8, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Willmor Chapel with Sandra Rex officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held in the Glenboro United Church C. E. Building. Everyone is welcome.
