Obituary for Clara Myers Longberry

Clara Myers  Longberry
Clara Myers Longberry, 84, of Chapmanville, Plum Township, passed away, peacefully at Meadville Medical Center on April 1, 2017. She was born at Maple Hill, Troy Township, Crawford County on December 10, 1932, she was a daughter of Fredrick C. Myers and Edith M. Tracy Myers. On August 19, 1950 she married Merle E. Longberry at Maple Hill Evangelical United Brethren Church.

Clara attended Fauncetown School followed by Townville High School. She worked at Sylvania in Pleasantville in the early 1950's. She was employed at WinTronics (National Tel-Tronics) from 1966 until her retirement in 1991. During the 1970's and 1980's she and her husband developed strong friendships with some of the Amish Community from this area while providing transportation for them. From 1966 to 1974, while living at Troy Center, Clara and her husband, Merle, owned and operated Four Lees Jersey Farm.

She was a very active member of Little Cooley United Methodist Church where she, among many positions, was Past President of the United Methodist Women, Sunday School Teacher, member of the Board of Trustees and she adored rocking the babies of M.O.P.S. (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers). She also enjoyed attending Bradleytown United Methodist Church and Chapmanville Community Church. Known to many as "Gramma Berry", Clara accepted Christ as her Lord as a young girl and bestowed His love on others. She always gave sensible advice and shared her life experiences when helping family or friends.

She took pleasure in collecting thousands of ornamental miniature shoes and was thrilled to travel, especially the window seat during air flight. She and her husband visited most of the States of the U.S. and Provinces of Canada. Clara also loved to garden and to appreciate its rewards and beauty. She had a strong work-ethic and was devoted to her God, her family, and many friends. She was honored and honorable. While caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Clara passed-on he knowledge of the Bible and songs of praise and worship.

Preceding her in death were, a still-born twin brother; her mother, June 2, 1954; her father, March 19, 1957; one son, Gary L. Longberry, July 29, 1979; her husband of 39 years, December 28, 1989; a sister, Madge M. Myers, October 28, 2003; a brother, John F. "Jack" Myers, October 1, 2009; a daughter in law, Diane K. Longberry (Mrs. Terry Longberry) September 2, 2010; her father in law, Herschel L. Longberry, June 25, 1974; and two beloved mothers in law, Mary Edna McCartney Longberry, October 20, 1963 and Elizabeth F. "Betty" Baugher Longberry, April 17, 2001.

Surviving to mourn Clara are a son, Larry L. Longberry and his wife Susanne of Randolph Township near Guys Mills; a daughter, Deanna L. Wagner and her husband W. William "Bill" of Sunville, Plum Township; a son, Terry L. Longberry of Wayne Township near Cochranton; a brother, David L. Myers and his wife Elaine of Sunville, Plum Township; grandchildren, Bryan L. Longberry, Jodi M. Crowther, Joy L. Butryn and her husband James, Patricia C. Gilliland; cherished great grandchildren, Alexander E. Longberry, Andrew M. Crowther, Olivia M. Crowther, Levi J. Butryn, Dylan J. Butryn, Garrett Lee Butryn, Lindsay K. Gilliland, Lilly Clara Gilliland, and Lexi C. Gilliland; and fourteen nieces, nephews, and their spouses.

Family and friends are welcome to call on Monday, April 3rd from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 33353 N. Main Street, Townville. An additional hour of calling will be on Tuesday, April 4th at 10:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00am at Little Cooley United Methodist Church 32732 Teepleville Road, Centerville with Reverend John Scott of Little Cooley United Methodist Church and Pastor Glen Van Cise of Chapmanville Community Church, co-officaiting.

A private graveside service will follow at Kingsley Cemetery, Townville.
