Obituary for Joseph D. Bossinger

Joseph D.  Bossinger
Joseph D. Bossinger, 77, of Lewistown passed on to his eternal home on Saturday, April 1, 2017 surrounded by his loving family and many special friends. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Ann (Brannan) Bossinger. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Joseph Bucher and Kathryn Margaret (Cummins) Bossinger and his brother, William Lewis Bossinger. Born on March 22, 1940 in Lewistown Joe was primarily raised on the family farm purchased by his parents in 1946. Joe was proud that the farm will stay in the family. In his early life he farmed and was employed by New Holland retiring in 1998. For many years he enjoyed making the famous Bossinger clear toys at Christmas for family and friends.

Joe is survived by his daughters: Kathryn and her husband Jeff Limes and his children Ryan of Virginia and Bethany (Seth) Traxler of Harrisburg. Cynthia and her husband Scott Pierce and their sons Alex Joseph and Benjamin Austin. His grandsons were the utter joy of his retirement years. Also surviving is his sister, Nancy Jane Watson of Lewistown and sister in law, Mona Jean (Haywood) Bossinger of Noblesville, IN. His Aunt, Marjorie (Bossinger) Stumpff of Valley View also survives. Joe is also survived by two special great nephews; M. Joseph Thayer of Rock Hall, MD and Jess Hamler of McVeytown. He was the proud Uncle to nine nephews and four nieces.

Joe was a member of Ellen Chapel Church. He served the Lord through many countless hours of service to the valley community and as a trustee of the church.

A memorial service will be held at Ellen Chapel Church on Saturday, April 8 at 12 Noon with Pastor Mark Hill officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 10am -11:30am prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly ask that memorials be made to Ellen Chapel Church, 11764 Ferguson Valley Road, Lewistown, PA 17044.
