Obituary for
Lenzie William Ray
Lenzie William Ray, age 76, a resident of Middle mountain, Wymer, West Virginia, departed this life on Thursday morning, April 6, 2017, at the Davis Memorial Hospital, after an extended illness.
He was born on February 6, 1941, at Wymer, West Virginia, a son of the late Virgil Ray and Luvary Lambert Ray. On October 28, 1994, he was united in marriage to Thelma “Jean” Ayers, who survives at their residence.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons; Mickey Ray and his wife, Joyce, of Belington, West Virginia, and Jeff Ray and his wife Sandy, of Elkins, West Virginia, a step-daughter, Dulcia and her husband Percy Gum, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and step-son, Woodrow Lambert, of Wymer, West Virginia.
He is also survived by two sisters, Linda Rodgers, and Joan Pifer, both of Belington, and five brothers, Jack Ray, Curlie Ray, and Milton Ray of Elkins, West Virginia, Jacob Ray of Wymer, West Virginia, and Dale Ray of Glady, West Virginia. He was predeceased by one sister, the late Miriam McCauley.
He is also survived by two grandsons, Brooke Ray and Jeffrey S. Wilson, of Elkins, West Virginia, a granddaughter, Lena Ray of Elkins, West Virginia, two step granddaughters, Monique Rose Brewer and husband Percy, of Richmond, Virginia, and Shelly Gains and her husband Perry of Hackers Creek, West Virginia, as well as a step grandson, Cole Lambert, of Wymer, West Virginia, and many great-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
He also leaves behind his special friend, his dog, “Miss Spicy” and too many other friends and family to mention.
Lenzie attended the schools of Randolph County and was a hard worker, and avid hunter, and he enjoyed the outdoors, farming, and gun smithing. He was a jokester and loved to tell stories. He was a coal miner most of his life, and in later years worked in the logging and carpentry industries.
Friends will be received from the Beverly Community Church at 33 Main Street, Beverly, West Virginia 26253 on Sunday April 9, 2017, from 1:00 Pm thru 3:00 PM., the funeral hour, with Pastor Boyd Wyatt officiating. Interment to follow in the Lambert 2 Cemetery in Wymer, West Virginia,, near his beloved grandfather, George Lambert. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.talbottfuneralhome.com.
