Obituary for Dorothy Mae Hockensmith (Parker)

Dorothy Mae  Hockensmith (Parker)
Frankfort –Dorothy Parker Hockensmith, born March 16, 1920, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 9, 2017. Dorothy (known as Granny by most) was a homemaker, farmer and a Granny to many. She graduated from Peaks Mill School and was a member of Peaks Mill Christian Church.

Dorothy and her late husband, Kirtley, were founding members of the Highland Christian Church and she was a founding member of the Franklin County Farmers Market.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Kirtley Hockensmith, Jr., brother, Charles Parker, Jr., grandson, Kyle Hockensmith, and parents, Charlie and Margaret Parker.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Kenneth C. Hockensmith (Joyce), granddaughter, Kris Dunn (Jason), great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Austin Hockensmith and Ethan, Andrew and Evan Dunn, and one great-great grandson, Wilton Scott Hudson, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Services for Dorothy will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Ronnie McKinney officiating assisted by Bro. Aaron Snelling. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Jason Dunn, Austin Hockensmith, Skip Hockensmith, Greg Peach, Randy Thompson and David Thompson. Honorary bearers will be Nina Parker, J.C. Hosley, Bobby Hutcherson, Linda Tincher, Jason Tincher and members of Franklin County Farmers Market.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Peaks Mill Cemetery Fund or to Hospice of the Bluegrass (now known as Bluegrass Care Navigators).

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Linda Tincher and her entire family for the love and care given to Dorothy over the last 13 months.
