Obituary for Donald William Strunk

Donald William Strunk was born 5-27-1938 and returned to God on 4-8-2017. One of three children; he was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Mary Strunk, brother James Strunk, son Darren Strunk, wife Carol Strunk and nephew Randy Ayer. Donn served in the US Navy. He was employed at Saturday’s Market as a meat cutter, AMP in the mail room, Penn State Hershey Medical Center, and County Meadows as a driver. He had resided in Hershey, briefly in Blain, and a majority of his life in Hummelstown, PA. Outdoorsman at heart, Donn enjoyed hunting for deer- muzzleloader, rifle and archery, turkey hunting, small game hunting, and fishing. He had an avid interest in American history, especially the Revolutionary War, mountain men and the West. He participated in reenactments through Rendezvous. He had a sense of humor and usually thrived on joking and laughter.
He is survived by his daughters Penney Quintin (husband Frank) and Rebecca Jamison (husband Phil); sister Marie Fry( husband Ray); grandchildren: Antonio, Marcos, Christopher, Chendley, Hope, Joselyn, one on the way and Shannon ; step daughter Debra Souder (husband Patrick); nieces Jenny Mentzer (husband Jack) and Jolinda Reheard (husband Steven); nephews James and John Fry, and faithful Cocker Spaniel, Chance. A special thank you to his neighbors Lois and Doug Ednie for “adopting” Donn and showering him with love, care and compassion. Pancreatic cancer took him sooner than we wanted him to go. He has rejoined his wife, son and family. Heaven celebrates as we remain.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 9:30 AM in the Hummelstown Cemetery. A memorial service will held immediately following the graveside service at 10 AM in Stoverdale United Methodist Church, 1760 Wood Road, Hummelstown, with Pastor Scott R. Hover, officiating.
