I remember very vividly the day everyone moved out of mother's house. It was very busy and I was a little kid in the way. I found a spot on the back porch and just watched silently. It became a whole different place. Very quiet. Growing up, I always looked forward to going up to Rosie's house because there, I would get to play with cousins, aunts, uncles and their friends. It was noisy and it was fun. Ro always had a smile and short laugh. She welcomed everyone. She would always look at me with a certain faraway look in her eyes. As I grew older, she always made sure that I had a ride to my practices and music concerts. As an adult she said something to me that seemed to shed some light on why she looked at me the way she did. She told me that because of my relationship with mother she had always thought of me more as a little sister rather than as a granddaughter. The opportunities for going up to Rosie's house are now over but I will cherish those memories forever. The love she gave will always be there. Rest in blessed peace. Love Cal.
