Obituary for Kurt Thomas Downham

Kurt Thomas Downham
Kurt Thomas Downham, 49, passed away on April 3, 2017. He was a resident of Santa Fe, NM and a long-time resident of Chicago.

Kurt is survived by his mother, Margaret P. Downham; father, Max C. Downham; brother, Keith J. Downham; sister-in-law; Melissa E. Downham; and beloved nephew and niece, Max A. Downham and Zoe N. Downham.

Kurt graduated from Purdue University with a BS in Economics as well as an MBA. He was a member of Acacia Fraternity (Purdue Chapter) and was a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Kurt’s professional life included sales roles with some of the world’s largest financial institutions where he had a keen ability to cultivate new clientele.

Kurt is, though, remembered for being a wonderful person, great friend, tremendous uncle, loving and loyal son and brother. He was loved by everyone and will be missed by all. His unique laugh was infectious, and he lit up every room. He had an uncanny ability to brighten even the worst situations and make even the newest acquaintances feel as though they were the most important people in the room. Kurt’s family and friends are heartbroken by his passing, and he is deeply missed.

Kurt's family is thankful and truly blessed to have had him in our lives for the past 49 years. We love you, Kurt, and look forward to seeing you again. God bless you.

We will honor Kurt at a memorial service on April 22, 2017 at the FOURTH PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IN CHICAGO —located on North Michigan Avenue at Delaware Place. A viewing will be held at 10:15 AM with services beginning at 11:00 AM. There will be a reception at Ditka’s Restaurant following the service.
