Obituary for Kevin James Forster

Kevin James Forster
Kevin James Forster, 43, formerly of Framingham, died April 12, 2017 in San Diego, CA. Born and raised in Framingham, he was the son of Kathleen (Bachini) Rowell of San Diego, formerly of Framingham, and the late Richard A. Forster, a native of Plainfield, NJ. who was a longtime resident of Framingham and Wellesley before his death in 1997.

A graduate of Framingham High School, Kevin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1995. At the age of 24 he relocated from Framingham to San Diego, where he made his home. Although he was not a native, Kevin was the consummate California boy who lived to enjoy the sun, take spot trips to Mexico and Las Vegas, and to entertain everyone and anyone who came to visit with his complete travel prowess around the State of California.

Kevin was most recently employed by cyber security company Web Sense prior to his diagnosis with ALS five years ago. Kevin had an amazing love of life and fought the disease courageously and with optimism in order to maintain a lifestyle that permitted him to enjoy and fulfill the items on his bucket list. He never missed an opportunity to attend a heavy metal concert or ANY kind of game; he lived WITH the disease, he would not die FROM it. His motto was “what can we do next that will be fun?!”

A die-hard sports fan and lifelong Bruins fan, Kevin lived to see the team win the Stanley Cup. He was also was a lifelong fan of the Seattle Seahawks and a rabid Nebraska Huskers fan. All three teams were happy to honor Kevin these past few weeks with letters thanking him for his devotion.

Our loving thanks to our families on both sides and devoted friends for their undying support and love during Kevin’s long journey. Our love for Kevin was unconditional; he came into this world that way and he left knowing it was true. We would like to dedicate our Kevin’s long and courageous battle to ALS One, which was founded by Kevin Gosnell during his battle with ALS, in the hopes that others will recognize the need for this disease to be cured.

Besides his mother, Kevin is survived by his step-father Richard Rowell; his sister Kristen Forster of San Diego; uncle Albert Rocco, aunt Christine (Bachini) Rocco, cousin Samantha Rocco, and uncle Charles Forster all of Framingham, MA; uncle Robert Forster and wife Sharon, and cousins Douglas and Matthew Forster of VA and Elizabeth Forster of CA.; uncle George Forster and wife Ann of Ct and FL.; and cousins Robert Wilkins Forster and Matthew Forster of NY.

All are welcome to attend visiting hours Sunday April 23 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Boyle Bros. Funeral Home, 173 Union Ave., Framingham. A private service will be held followed by burial at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be directed to: ALS ONE, 8 Industrial Way, Whitman, MA. 02382 (www.alsone.org) or to: Compassionate Care ALS, 752 W. Falmouth Hwy, Falmouth, MA. 02540 (www.ccals.org). Memorial page www.boylebrothers.com.
