Dennis Somers, 79, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017 after a three-year battle with cancer. Dennis lived in Clearwater, Florida. He was born in Mason City, IA on June 17, 1937, the son of Harold Somers and Mary Vicari.
Dennis grew up in Mason City, IA. He graduated from Holy Family High School, Class of 1955. After high school he worked as a sales representative for Myers-cox. Over the years, he worked for various restaurants and managed the Mason City Country Club.
He lived in Minneapolis, MN for about six years then went back to Mason City, IA. In 1985 he retired in Clearwater, FL.
Denny enjoyed playing golf and was a member at Clearwater Country Club until he got sick. He also enjoyed cooking, gambling, traveling, and Friday night’s Happy Hour with his friends.
Ashton, great-grand child, came to live with them when he was three weeks old. He was the love of his life and kept him going. Ashton remembers when he used to swim with him in the pool. He will really miss him.
Denny is survived by his wife Karen and great-grandson Ashton, daughters: Debbie, Sandy, Shelley, Sherrie, and Leslie; sons: Mike, Donnie, and Matt; grandchildren: James, Jacob, Rachel, Abbie, Craig, Chad, Joelle, Emma, Margaret, Jonathan, Nicole, Trevor, Hannah, Noah, Bridget, Aerial, Jade, Chelsea, Dallas, Brandon, Kaitlyn, Devinne, and Hailey; great-grandchildren: Andrew, Gabe, Joe, Aubree, Zander, Wyatt, David, and Joseph; two brothers Steve and Jerry and two sisters Jan and Barb.
