He was born on August 7, 1944, in Spring Run, the son of the late John G. and Vivian M. Edmonson Baker. Tom was a 1962 graduate of Fannett-Metal High School. He married Emma Jane Yohe on August 15, 1971 in Cleversburg.

Earlier in life, Tom worked as a delivery driver for the former Valley Pride Bakery, Shippensburg, and as an insurance agent for the Washington National Insurance Co., Chambersburg, earning the East Coast Top Agent award in 1980. He was also employed as a salesman at Interstate Ford, Shippensburg, and at Shively Motors, Chambersburg, from where he retired in 2002.

In his leisure time Tom enjoyed camping, hunting, bowling, going to races, and in his later years, traveling. He is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Emma; his son, Jonathan R. (Leslie) Baker of Greencastle; three grandchildren, Gavin J., Jocelyn J., and Grayson J. Baker, all of Greencastle; and his sister, Katie (Donald) Ile of Spring Run.
