Obituary for Billye Bankston Graham
Billye Bankston Graham
Funeral services for Mrs. Billye Bankston Graham of Nebo, LA will be 10:00am Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Nebo, LA with Rev. Matthew Muerall officiating. Interment will follow at Graham Cemetery in Nebo, LA under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home Monroe. Visitation will be from 5:00pm until 8:00pm Monday, April 24, 2017 and from 9:00am till time of service Tuesday at the church.
Mrs. Graham was born September 29,1938 in Harrisonburg, La. and passed from this life on April 22, 2017 in Nebo, LA at the age of 78. She was a graduate of Harrisonburg High School and worked as a florist at various floral shops through the years. She was a longtime Sunday school teacher at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church where she also participated in the music program and other church activities as well. Billye and her husband, James were home missionaries for the church of the Baptist faith in Atlanta, GA. She was very artistic and talented. She competed in roller skating and also participated in decorating floats for the Rose Parade in California. She sang on the radio in Baton Rouge and once competed in a talent contest against Jerry Lee Lewis where she came in second place to him. She could make beautiful floral arrangements, wedding cakes and pageant dresses and she was a brilliant artist. Her family will cherish her paintings and her crafts for years to come. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Clara Bankston; one granddaughter, Krystle Berry; and one sister, Lilla Mae Gaultreaux.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years James “Jimmy” Graham of Nebo; two sons, Lyndon Alan and wife Mickey and David Anthony and wife, Irma all of Nebo; one daughter, Kathy Renee Graham (Kurtis Paulk) of Nebo; nine grandchildren and host of great-grandchildren and extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Graham, Jeremy Graham, Brodie Berry, Chevy Berry, Shauna Thompson and Savanna Brown.
