Condolence: When I worked at Capital Weekly, Don Tuttle would drop in about once a week and leave a few candy treats at each person's desk. If the worker was free, Don would stop and engage in some lively conversation.

He was the most natural comedian I ever knew. He would spin a yarn that you didn't know was a joke until he sprang the punch line at just the right moment when you couldn't help laughing out loud.

After I retired, Don and I kept in touch by telephone. He was a great, kind friend with a razor-sharp wit.

As he grew older, his family and friends urged him to enter the Maine Veterans' Home where he would be "treated like a king," as he put it. But Don would growl, "I don't want to be put in a nursing home." And he succeeded in his wish, spending his final days at home.

My sympathy goes out to Donald Tuttle's large family. He was a unique soul. I'm sure he's making the angels in heaven laugh out loud.

Condolence: My deepest condolences to the family of Don. How blessed were you to have this man as a part of your family. He's by far one of the greatest men I have ever known. He was so funny, so loving and so talented, that I could go on forever about the depth of my adoration for him. Please find comfort in knowing how deeply Don was loved, admired and respected. He was a rarity by all accounts and though I'm saddened to hear of his passing, I can only smile and feel love when I think of him. May he RIP.
