Obituary for Fred Walter Smilinsky
Peacefully, at his home, Walt passed away April 16, 2017. He was born Sept 1, 1935. He was predeceased by his wife Joan in 1996, and his parents George and Ann.
He is survived by his brother Edward (Gayle), 4 nephews, Dan (Olga) Darrell (Yvonne) Brent (Sandy) Mark (Jamie), his niece Karen (Steve Pataki). Also brother-in-law Gary (Donna) Willstrop and niece Cherie.
Walt worked for the St. James School Division, and retired after many years of service. He loved the outdoors, and spent many hours walking in Birds Hill and Assiniboine Parks. Walt was a long-time member of Calvary Temple, where he made many friends. Walt will be greatly missed.
As per Walt's wishes, cremation has taken place, and no formal service will be held.
