Obituary for John N. Colombo

John N. Colombo
John Nunzio Colombo, 89 years of age, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2017 at LifeCare of Acton, MA. He was the son of the late Francesco Colombo and Domenica Prestipino Colombo. He was a lifelong resident of Maynard, MA and for a time West Palm Beach, FL.

John was a barber for many years working alongside his brother Dominic and his father in the family business, changing careers in the 70’s. John was then employed by Digital Equipment Corp in the Transportation dept retiring from the company after many years of service. Even though he had retired as a barber he would always have time to visit hospitals, nursing homes and shut-ins to give former clients haircuts. John was a 68-year member of the Maynard Elks and a past Exalted Ruler. He was a long time member of the Maynard Board of Health and was a former member of the Maynard Knights of Columbus.
Over the years, John was known as a generous man who loved engaging in conversations about his early days growing up in Maynard, politics and current events with friends and family, especially at the Elks where he loved seeing so many friends.

John will be missed by his daughters; Marie Lutton, Patricia Ferrechio (Joe), Jane Chambers (Michael), Tina MacKenzie (Ken), Francesca Pitt (Stuart), and Linda Clements (Dave); his grandchildren whom affectionately called him Tatouche, Matthew, Andrew, Lauren (Tristan), Shaun (Mary), Ryan (Montana), Kevin (Cayleigh), Lindsey, Benjamin and Sarah; and his great grandchildren, Ava, Megan, Caitlyn, and River; and his sister Alice Callahan. John was predeceased by his sisters Marie Fitzpatrick and Anne Miller, brothers Dominic and C. Frank “Chick” Colombo and his son-in-law, William Lutton.

The Elks Lodge of Sorrows Memorial Service and a Toast to celebrate Mr. Colombo's life will be held Saturday June 17, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Maynard Lodge of Elks, 34 Powdermill Road (Rt 62) Maynard. Memorial page www.actonfuneralhome.com
