Obituary for Lucille Glene Mefford (Dawkins)
Lucille Glene Mefford, age 85, of Louisville, passed away at 12:52 am, Monday, May 1, 2017 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham, IL.
Lucille was born February 22, 1932 in Louisville, the daughter of Willard and Nina (Smith) Dawkins. She was united in marriage to Gerald Eugene Mefford on February 27, 1950 in Flora, IL, and to this union three sons were born. Gerald preceded her in death on April 13, 2010.
She was employed by the North Clay School Unit 25 as a bus driver for many years and was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church in Flora.
She leaves to mourn her passing, sons, Larry (Tana) Mefford of Neoga, Terry (Karen) Mefford of Dahlgren, IL, Jerry (Lori) Mefford of Central Point, Oregon; grandchildren, Maggie (Shawn) Mefford Bietz of Dewittt, IL, Kristina (Chad) Mefford Dickey of Flora, Kandi (Jeff) Mefford Wilkerson of Thompsonville, IL, Dustin (Amanda) Mefford of Mc Leansboro, IL, Clint Mefford of St. Joseph, MO, Taylor Mefford of Stillwater, OK; great grandchildren, Colby Hopfinger, Blaine and Abbigail Dickey, Liliana, Kylea and Sawyer Wilkerson, Lyla Grace and Kodie Mefford.
Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Herman Dawkins and sisters Vivian Louise (Jack) Hale and Ilieen Trinkle.
Arrangements are entrusted to J.W. Neal Funeral Home in Louisville. A private family visitation will be held at 10:00 am, on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the funeral home. A celebration of life will be held for all at 10:30, following the visitation at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Toliver Cemetery.
